It may be January here in the Austin area, but we have the huge benefit of being able to literally grow year round. Sure, the variety of plants that will grow may decrease in mid-winter (as it does during those dog days of summer), but something can thrive in our kitchen gardens every single month. Yay!
Gardening in January means a little extra temperature watching on your part—what with those 80 degree days followed by the occasional frosty night (*sigh* Austin), so it’s good to have some plant covers on hand.
Whether your garden is currently empty or you’re looking to add something new to your kitchen garden to boost your winter production, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and do some planting. Take a look at our cool season planting list, and plant what speaks to you!
